Two months, day forty-nine: Białystok

I am never drinking again.

My first two morning lessons were mercifully devoid of students, so I was able to spend the morning variously imbibing caffeine and sugary goodness until I felt slightly more alive than at half-past eight, just in time to be taken to the not-square for Pierogi and oh-god-no-beer-thank-you at lunchtime by host, who thought it most amusing that I was quite clearly broken.

I discovered Kvass, which has a most intriguing taste which I thought was a bit like liquid Christmas, but which is also sugary and fizzy and has some amazing curative qualities that cannot be overstated. Combined with a little power-nap in the afternoon, I was able to go for coffee and piano music in a very sophisticated and calming environment before retiring at a sensible time, hopefully to be able to function properly again tomorrow.

During the evening of culture and karaoke, I’d tried to get food at Elvis Burger, but they were closing when we got there and I didn’t fancy the idea of eating on the go. This turned out to have been a wise decision as I had the vegan burger from there tonight and it was absolutely massive and very nice.
